As current flows through a primary conductor, a rotating magnetic field is generated, and this field is captured by a core of magnetically sensitive material, concentrating it in the core's gap where the Hall-effect device is located. Consequently, the output of the Hall-effect device is directly proportional to the amplitude and phase of the primary current. To ensure accuracy, the sensor's output is calibrated for gain and offset, providing a predefined output sensitivity versus primary current.
