LT1181AIN#PBF General Description

The LT1180A/LT1181A dual RS232 driver/receiver pairs are at the forefront of communication circuit technology, offering a reliable and high-performance solution for generating RS232 voltage levels from a single 5V supply. These circuits, built with a rugged bipolar design, provide exceptional operating fault tolerance and ESD protection that outperform traditional CMOS designs. With a low power consumption of 40mW and a requirement of only 0.1µF external capacitors, the LT1180A/LT1181A can operate at speeds up to 120k baud even under heavy capacitive loads. By incorporating innovative ESD structures on the chip, these circuits can withstand multiple ±10kV strikes, eliminating the need for expensive TransZorbs® on the RS232 line pins. Fully compliant with EIA RS232 standards, the LT1180A/LT1181A feature protected driver outputs that can endure overload and short circuits without damage. Additionally, their high impedance state during shutdown or power-off conditions enables efficient line sharing capabilities
